I wish we'd gotten on that "Fannish Greeting Cards" project that was in... [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's lj, I think?, because I'd post an "I'm sorry for your fannish loss" card for the SGA fans on my flist. Oh, SciFi, why must you hurt everyone? Suck.

In other fannish news, it's time to start thinking about what I'm going to request for Yuletide. I'm gonna bookmark this entry and add ideas as they come to me. So far (some of these might be disallowed, but I don't know yet, so):

Shawshank Redemption
Jekyll (UK)
Invisible Man
Sherlock Holmes
Batman Begins / The Dark Knight
Quantum Leap
Mad Men
The Wire
How I Met Your Mother

Other suggestions are welcome. :D

Your condolences are much appreciated!

And yeah, we'll have to get that Fannish Greeting Cards thing off the ground one of these days, because this would be totally perfect for it.

I wish I could find the post. There were a *lot* of good suggestions. The problem is I think they were in a comment thread that wasn't directly related to the post, so looking at all the posts in ces's lj won't help.

Meh.

I think this is an idea the OTW may run with, someday. Or, at least, I know we've talked about eventually providing all sorts of graphics and whatnot that fans can give to each other to be displayed on their userinfo pages (like we do on lj -- when people give each other, whatever, penguins and little bears and hearts.) So I don't see why we couldn't also branch into the fannish greeting card end of things.

(I mean, aside from the part where all of this would take time and energy to create. *g* But I wouldn't be surprised to see this idea come back into circulation once the archive is up and running...)

I vote yes for this idea (with my non-existent committee member power *g*)

SciFi must hurt us because they are SciFi and they suck. But your good wishes certainly help.

Jekyll fic, if done right, could be awesome. I don't know if you're familiar with the Vorkosigan books, but last year's yultide offerings for them were outstanding.

I've had my requests figured out for months *g*. I'm collecting ideas for what to volunteer. Middleman, definitely. Probably also Shadow Unit.

I am considering REALLY going for broke and asking for "84 Charing Cross Road." And "Guarding Tess." Obscure or bust, baby.

Hey - I bet you *anything* that someone out there would offer to write them. Only having to review a two-hour source instead of five seasons of something is always a plus.

Ooh, speaking of Sherlock Holmes, have you seen the "Murder Rooms" series that was on Mystery!, with Doyle and Bell? Viewed in a fannish frame of mind they're potentially cracktacular!

I tend to feel that Jekyll is one of those shows that doesn't need fic. I am, however, considering the possiblity of vids.

"Murder Rooms" has been requested before. :D I considered offering it, but didn't have time to review source. I agree, there's a lot of potential there.

I got a Jekyll vignette last year as whatever last year's equivalent to stocking stuffers were. It was awesome.

I'm waving my Yuletide flag for Mike Carey's Felix Castor novels. Two people on my flist discovered them recently, so I'm thinking there's at least a slim chance.
