I need as much music as I can get that is related to Hawai'i or pigs. (Don't ask.)

It can be Hawai'ian music, or songs about Hawai'i, as well as anything pig-related, in any way. Any way at all.

Anything you can name would be helpful; anything you *cough* know I can get *cough* would be extra-helpful.

ETA: Anyone have the soundtrack for Charlotte's Web (the old cartoon one) or Blue Hawai'i?

E ATA: I have to run out for a bit - please don't think I'm ignoring your suggestions if I don't reply right away! Thanks!

There's a Mountain Goats song called "The Pigs Who Ran Straightaway Into the Water, the Triumph of."

The Pigs Who Ran Straightaway Into the Water, the Triumph of (http://www.mediafire.com/?j2kwzjyorrm) :D It's not really much to do with pigs at all, but at least the title is fitting?

Don Ho, of course, would be classic Hawai'ian music. I'd also suggest Israel Kamakawiwo`ole, who sang the beautiful "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" medley:

I can offer Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole for Hawai'i.

For pigs I'd have to check my CDs.

Hmmm, the only songs that I have, that are even vaguely pig related are in German. One is a punk rock song about how all men are pigs and the other is a Comedian Harmonists style lament that absolutely nobody (kein Schwein) is calling the singer. Oh, and by the same group there is a song about mad cow disease which, I think, mentions pigs, too. If you are still interested I could put them up for you.

Thank you - German pigs probably not gonna work, but I really appreciate it!

For pigs, there's the Beatles "Piggies" and Greg Brown's "Four Wet Pigs." I have the former but not the latter.

I also have "The Song from the Pig's Side," which is a retelling of the Three Little Pigs to the tune of a Kipling poem set to music, IYKWIM.

I know that you have the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole because when I was trying to place it, you're the one who told me what it was. At least, I think that was you, wasn't it?

There's a 6ths song that I don't like very much (yes, there are some Stephin Merritt songs I don't like) called "Oahu". It's twenty-eight minutes long.

There's always "Pigs" by Cypress Hill, although it is, um, more metaphorical. Also, do you know the comedy group Corky and the Juice Pigs? They don't really have much to do with pigs, per se, but they're very funny. Their best known song is "Gay Eskimo."

Your post is so timely. I was feeling a bit homesick a few days ago and started re-rembering some old tunes from my childhood. Yes, I grew up in Honolulu. It started with me trying to remember the words to Kanaka Waiwai which I remember singing for May Day in the 2nd grade I think. So here are some of my favorite songs and artists.

First, Olomana, they do a great version of Kanaka Waiwai and I absolutely love Ku`u Home O Kahalu`u. Then, Cecilio & Kapono (especially Honolulu City Lights which always makes me homesick), Keola Beamer, Kalapana, Kapena, The Brothers Cazimero, The Makaha Sons. These are a few names I remeber listening to and loving. There are also silly songs I remember from my hanabuddah days. Coconut Willie, Pupu Hinuhinu, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a song, King Kamehameha, Paniolo Cowboy, Come on and Have Some Hawaiian Fun, Wear a Lei Maile Lei. . . It's a shame I don't have any Hawaiian music in my collection anymore. I had a bunch on cassette years ago and never bothered to replace them digitally when they died and I switched to CDs. I think I might have to remedy that now. Thanks for refreshing my memory!

"Shock the Monkey" by Don Ho?

NIN has a song about pigs, IIRC.

Let me know if you'd like either; it'll mean moving my external hard drive, so I'm not getting it out unless you'd like them. :)

... I think, if it's not too much trouble, I think I *MUST* have the Don Ho, if only to omg wtf Don Ho Shock the Monkey??

I have the NIN song.

But seriously, if it's a pain, no worries.

It has nothing to do with hawaii, but Perfect Piggies from Sandra Boynton's Rhinoceros Tap album is the best pig song EVER.

It's like 2.5 megs, so I can email it if you want.
