DIRECTV and TiVo come to their senses!

DirecTV and TiVo, which went through a trial separation of a few years, are getting back together again! I've held on to my DirecTiVo box for... a long, long time now, as there was simply nothing else that even came close. I feared the day that it would finally give up the ghost. But now they're saying that by mid-2009, there will be brand-new DirecTiVo units, and they'll be HD to boot!

I wasn't going to buy an HDTV, or an HD (Blu-Ray) DVD player, or upgrade anything else till I absolutely had to, for I knew I'd most likely have to give up the DirecTiVo box forever.

BUT NOW I DON'T!

My television is a 35" CRT unit from 1993. It weighs over two hundred pounds. It's moved with me twice. AND IT STILL WORKS FINE (but I rilly rilly want an HDTV soon).

This is true for me, too (except for the moving -- it's been in the same room since it was brought home. I have, however, moved it from wall to wall twice (and never, ever, ever again!)

Yay! I still have my HD DirecTivo, but I had to stop using it because it doesn't support the 5-LNB oval dish that I needed to get local channels.

Want TiVo!
