This may be the new U.S. Senator idiocy for go-to entertainment:

Louisiana politics is known for being a bit weird compared to the rest of the country, and it's starting to look like this cycle will be no exception -- with scandal-plagued GOP Sen. David Vitter facing a potential primary challenge from a major Christian-Right activist on the one side, and a porn star on the other.

As someone who several months of 2008 reading through the Louisiana State Session Laws 1804-2007 I can testify that it has been a politically odd place from the very beginning. Trying to mash together French, Spanish and American political systems seems to have encouraged wackiness at every turn. As if the Vitter situation weren't enough, we also have that silly-putty "response" by Jindal on Tues. nite. Every state has its quirks, but Louisiana seems to have an extra heapin' helpin' of 'em.
