More on the new Sherlock Holmes movie, a.k.a "I know what I'm doing on Christmas!"

Guy Ritchie revealed to Empire that he was worried the pair, who star as Holmes and his partner Watson in the Warner Bros movie, wouldn't get along.

"Robert and Jude didn't know each other before they both signed on," said Ritchie. "So, I was a little anxious when they first met - for about a second. Within ten minutes they were like old mates."

Ritchie hailed his two stars as "super-smart, super-experienced and super-talented", adding: "They worked really well together. It turned into a movie about their chemistry."

"I knew enough about Sherlock Holmes to know that there was a lot of unchartered material," Jude Law said of the script. "I knew [Downey's casting] was going to be something exciting, and therefore the project was going to be something exciting. And as soon as I met him, we got on very well — which is a good sign — and we both agreed that we wanted to really make this a piece about the relationship between Watson and Holmes."

"I think the word bromance is so passé," Downey grinned. "We are two men who happen to be roommates who wrestle a lot and share a bed."

I still have reservations about this, but I am certainly MUCH more, ah, excited about its potential.

Oh, I have lots and lots of reservations. It could be a fiasco. Then again, it could be a fabulously energizing re-invention of a franchise along the lines of Batman. (YMMV on that one.)

I'm still bitter that the Fry/Laurie version never happened, but wow, this looks promising. Also, is it just me or does Robert Downey Jr. kind of look a bit like Laurie in that 2nd photo?

And wow, that first photo. Slash city. Though I tend to think of Downey as one of those people, like Eliza Dushku, who has chemistry with everyone and everything, even inanimate objects.

I'm actually not all that bitter about the Fry/Laurie thing--I think "partners" in acting can only go so far. And I'm enjoying the Laurie/Leonard version, so. :D

I think RDJ is looking more and more like Robert Lindsay than HL, to be honest. (It helps that they're both song-and-dance men, and have both played Chaplin.)

You should go look up some of the OTHER photos from this new Sherlock Holmes movie--too many to include. Guh.

I'm vaguely interested in the movie, but I admit it's going to be a hard sell for me, since I absolutely adored Jeremy Brett's Holmes. He brought the character to life like no one has before or since. I am not sure if Downey will measure up in comparison and I don't know if I would be able to sit through the movie without comparing the two. That leaves me with a dilemma.
