Thank you all for the birthday wishes!
May. 31st, 2009 08:30 pmMaking this post to lj since so many people still live here (and I'm waffling on the DW thing at the moment because there's so much to learn and I'm too busy):
Thank you! Today
Oh - wait, at thirty-five you can run for President. But, let's be real, it is far more likely that I will one day drive a truck full of dynamite than run for President. You have to be fucking nuts to run for President.
As my icon informs you, however, I am Still Not King--and this greatly displeases me. Must get on that pronto. It goes on the to-do list, after 1) Finish Yet More School and 2) Become Gainfully Employed.
Imagine going to your employer and giving two-weeks notice because you've accepted a position as Monarch. That would be the most awesome exit interview ever.
Anyhow, after nine depressing hours of reading and writing about No Child Left Behind and its effects on both students and teachers, I'm going to take a shower, put on my jammies, and start reading one of the awesome books
\o/

Date: 2009-06-01 02:29 am (UTC)I reached that dreaded age about three and a half years ago, it's not so bad (says the man on the other side of it). As I must still finish the first school bit before I can work on the more school bit to find a different gainful employment, you are already far ahead of me. ;)
congrats, and may you have many, many more!

(One of my sisters-in-law is a CPS elementary school teacher in the Hyde Park area. She's told me all sorts of things about NCLB and effects it has had that apparently were entirely unforecasted at the time it was passed.)
