Frankly, I think nothing can anyone says can come close to the pure WTFery of the picture, but gimme your best shot. Best captioneer gets... uh... something. A vicodin. A unicorn of their very own. A date with Stalin.

I got nothin'.

Or, if you've got no caption, try to Apples to Apples it. Tell me the story of how the several elements of the picture related.

ETA: Oh holy crap there are more naked-Obama-avec-unicorn paintings.

In a MILLION YEARS, would someone have painted a white President and First Lady naked?

(Okay, breathe, stay focused, channel your rage into captioning the Stalin/Obama/Unicorn/House IDEK....)

Someone was actually doing a series of paintings of herself having sex with all of the Presidents of the US (in order) earlier this year, I think...here we go, Justine Lai. NSFW, naturally.

Still, I don't know if it's the same thing. There are certainly more issues than race involved (I'd argue that the nature of celebrity today affects both the likelihood of naked paintings and the inclusion of the First Lady) but I'm hesitant to conclude that race is not a factor.

I gotta go with race, here--it's very very... I don't know exactly how to phrase it. Naked white people are porn. Naked black people are cultural anthropology. You know? They're lesser, and it's okay to show their naked asses because they're uncivilized. You could see pictures of naked black women in National Geographic, but never naked white women.

The woman painting herself having sex with every single president... well, that's about her more than them, isn't it? Not sure what kind of statement she's making, but if she's going to paint all forty-four, I don't think it's about nudity, and it sure isn't about a specific person (except herself).

Sorry if I was unclear or if my comment was outside of the conversation you want to have here. I agree with you: I do think race is a major factor in the way the Obamas are being portrayed in those paintings.

I thought the Justine Lai project was interesting in terms of the assertion that previous Presidents may not been painted due to homeliness, but it's absolutely not a comparable set of works: her project is about humanising authority figures, not...whatever the unicorn pictures are about.

Ah! No worries. I think the naked/unicorn/house/stalin thing has melted my brain.

...In fact I think it might be "slaves be takin' our white wimmen" with some sort of combination of health care reform with (reversed? highly problematic? nonsensical?) underground railroad references? IDEK *flails*
