Oooh, I used to love this version of The Invisible Man. I was very annoyed when it got cancelled way before its time.

Um, it seems like I've only just noticed the phrase 'signal boost'; has it been around long and I've been unwittingly ignoring it --- or is this a newish thing?

"signal boost" has been in use since, oh, I don't know, in fandom - to mean "pass it along exponentially". Maybe it's just one of those things you never really thought about and then, once you noticed it, you can't help but see it everywhere, like New Car Syndrome.
