Last night's White Collar. Again.
Dec. 5th, 2009 03:30 pmWhen Neal is sitting on Peter's floor, and they're talking about how Neal thinks Fowler is using Peter to get to him, and that Fowler set him up by putting "NC" on the diamond, Peter says, "What does he want from you?" Neal says, "I dunno. Could be anything." And then Peter says, "Like what?"
If you can (i.e. if you have TiVo, torrents, etc.), watch that moment again for the teeny, tiny, minuscule little inflections and movements in Peter's face and body language and voice when he says "Like what?"
OMG TIM DEKAY HOW SO AWESOME IN TWO WORDS?
There are many, many more moments like this on repeated viewings.
Oh, and the ring. I couldn't make ANY sense of why Peter would have a ring that he *only wears when he meets up with Kate* and at no other time. But I think I've solved it.
It's The One Ring.
Peter has been entrusted with its care and he *tries* not to wear it, but it *calls* to him, and it makes him more and more EVIL when he wears it so he has to put it on when he's being EVIL to help him be EVIL.
And he can't run away to throw it into Mount Doom because he needs the paycheck.
(WHAT? There's no other rational explanation unless it's some kind of fucking transmitter that he has to put on to call Kate to him. They better have something good for this one.)
(Neal would carry him. You know he would.)
What do you guys think is a decent amount of time to refrain from using icons based on a big "spoiler" after something has aired?

Date: 2009-12-05 10:10 pm (UTC)Neal would carry him every. step. of. the. way.
I would say wait at least until after the weekend. As someone who lives in Europe and never gets to see things when they actually air, I would say, in an ideal world, wait at least a week. This is a pretty major deal. I was half expecting it myself because I read a "non-spoilery" post that put the idea in my head that it could be a serious option, and I still enjoyed the episode like whoa, but some people like their surprises purer than that, and I would want everyone to have the greatest viewing experiences possible of this. The world is not ideal, though, and I'm pretty sure everyone will be spoiled within a day or so, anyway. (Also, I started fandom life in the days where if you were a European in fandom, you inevitably knew about the death of half your OTP a whole year before you got to see it yourself, so, you know, I can confirm that spoilers do not kill. *g*)
OMG TIM DEKAY!!! And to think he was my least favourite thing about the pilot!

Date: 2009-12-06 02:34 am (UTC)Second of all, there are moments in DeKay's performance in this show that remind me eerily of Heath Ledger's Joker.
I know that sounds crazy. But.
If you can watch the pilot, in the scene where Neal comes down the stairs at June's and Peter says "You look like a cartoon" -- later in the scene, Peter says, "This is what gets you into trouble. This is the start of those... something-for-nothing schemes that lead to the frauds that got you locked up." Look at his face, and listen to his voice (not just the tone but cadence and inflection and how he hits his consonants). Especially listen to "schemes" and his face on "locked up."
It's happened a few more times during the series, but during the pilot I was like "whoa, um, that was just Ledger's Joker for a second."

Date: 2009-12-07 04:26 pm (UTC)On Peter's words in the finale while he and Neal are talking about Kate. Oh my god, yes, his voice and his face. When he says "then just give it to him." Oh yeah I'd give it to him. *coughs* But yeah, he is of the awesome.
