I can't believe all the nastiness and namecalling and bitching about people who just want to keep control of work they created.
If people want to keep a tight control on their own work, they shouldn't sign up to archives where the rules have clearly stated, for years, that stories would NEVER BE TAKEN DOWN. Not "stories will never be taken down as long as everything remains the same as it always is," not "stories will never be taken down as long as yuletide is hosted in the same place," NEVER. Period. This could not be more clear in the FAQ.
I understand that some people like to have more control over their stories than others do. But if people seriously feel like they cannot deal with other people making decisions about how/where/who hosts their stories, then maybe they shouldn't participate in gift exchanges where the rules clearly state that giving up some control of your story *is part of the package*.
