Frankly, I have despaired that we would ever see another movie with Harrison Ford in which he didn't, you know, SUCK. BADLY.

But holy cow, look at this preview for Morning Glory:

(If you can't view embedded video, you can see it here.)

I think I might be in love again. It's been a long, long time. Welcome back, Harrison.

Excellent, he's in old form (thinking SW and Raiders).

Who is that interviewing the ingenue at .25? I know perfectly well I recognize him, but it's too much hair for Joshua Malina, right?

Duh, of course. L&O: CI is where I've seen him recently.

Thanks.

oh my god a comedy that is actually funny!!! And Diane Keaton!!! Hello there! This looks like that rare Hollywood bird...an ensemble cast with a good script. Don't let me down, Hollywood!

That looks pretty promising. And the rest of the cast seems pretty great, too.

Of course, in reality Diane Keaton would be fired and replaced with a blonde perky 25-year-old.

Looks good. Reminds me a little of "The Devil Wears Prada" in tone.

Yay, Thought, and a Request

Wooo! Harrison Ford without a fridge- there may be hope yet! This actually looks really, really fun.

Something tickled my brains while watching part of this clip though. I love the idea of a female producer trying to turn a crappy show around and managing to get a really interesting and controversial host! But there's a scene where they are sitting on a bench and Ford's character tells her not to get wrapped up in her work, and that strikes me as playing into particular kind of genre of movies, where the busy career-minded woman is shown as being too wrapped up in her work and needs to change her focus to have a more balanced life.

Which, don't get me wrong here, is a message more people (not just women) need to hear in certain businesses and areas of our culture. But I don't think the fact that movies seem to use career-oriented women to send that message should be glossed over; there's some implications there for working women that may not be there for men.

So, while I'm looking forward to MORNING GLORY, I'm wondering: are there any movies people have seen recently where the same message of "get a life outside the office" is sent using a male main character?

Seconds this - remember Working Girl which, while fun, is up there in antifeminist filmmaking.

He always SAID he wanted to do comedy. He was good in Frisco Kid! You'd think he has enuf $$$ to do anything he wants to at this point!

Wow, I'm excited by this! Honestly, genuinely excited! It's been months (years?) since a trailer made me feel all warm and fuzzy and expectant. Thank you for sharing :)

This actually looks like it will be a fun movie! And wonder of wonders, it isn't a remake of an old TV show! Thanks for the head's up!
