That is all.

ETA: Apparently, no, that is not quite all --

words on the page that map comes from: ICE TORNADO.

Now that's all.

If we have ice tornadoes, does that make thundersnow a given?

The meteorologistas here at the Lab, at the south end of that path, are all a-flutter. I, personally, am looking forward to a couple of snow days, as long as we keep power.

ICE TORNADO.

*SNORK* Your tax dollars at work, baby. (http://www.weather.gov/) Less... dramatic, shall we say? *g*

Yeah, they've already notified us that we get a snow day tomorrow, because we're expecting anywhere from 7 to 12 inches, as of last report. I think. Not much compared to places back east, but a lot for us -- with possible blizzard conditions!

I have to stop at the store on the way home to buy cat food so they don't eat me tomorrow.

Good luck with the store thing. I went to Walmonster at lunch (what? I wanted some more oranges; I got oranges on Saturday and they were soooooo good, I wanted some more, damn it), and the thing that killed me were the hordes of people scurrying out the doors with bottled water. I mean, I'm sure some of them live out in the rural areas, and if they lose power, they lose their water wells, and will *need* bottled water, but for most of us, really, not so much.

People here at the NWC seem to be proceeding on the assumption that we'll be out for Tuesday *and* Wednesday, which is fine avec moi.

It was chaos, but strangely okay, given how little I like Walmart at the best of times! *g* There was good people-watching, and I got through it all in around an hour.

re: water, maybe people are thinking of the ice storms of several years ago? We didn't have any trouble, but it seems to me there were a lot of people even in urban areas that were without power or water or what have you for quite a while. I know I had friends in McAlester who went a week or more, which. *twitch* May I never have to! I'm just hoping for two days off work. I mean, if it's coming down hard until Tuesday night, there's no time for melting by Wednesday morning, right? Of course right!

Of course right! I can tell you that by the time we left yesterday, most of the people at the Weather Center were pretty sure this was going to be a two-day ordeal, although I'm really not so sure. The worst of the precip is over, now it's just wind blowing the snow around and cold-cold-cold. Don't get me wrong; if I have the option of staying home tomorrow, even if it's "working from home," I'll do it, to stay out of the cold. But I suspect that a late start-time would really, truly be sufficient for anyone who lives within ten miles or so of the Lab. I dunno; I seem to be getting hardier in my old age, go figure.

I was without power at my house -- no heat, no lights, no hot water -- for five days in the Dec. 2007 storm, which was right before the solstice, and omg, I had reeeeally lost my sense of humor about it by about the third day. Gah.

The Weather Channel and their understated take on the whole thing.

We already have two feet on the ground from previous storms and we're looking to get another two feet between tomorrow and Thursday.

Interestingly, Mr. MissP's neck has been killing him for two days and he's been swearing up and down that we are going to get nailed with some kind of ginormous storm.

They're forecasting 'glaze ice' here, around 1/4 inch, along with sleet and freezing rain through Wednesday.

I am seriously considering hibernating for the next two days because of that.
