Review of the first screening of Starsky and Hutch starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. The reviewer describes the characters as "uptight straight cop Starsky and playfully crooked cop Hutch".

Ah. Staying true to the series, I see.

I'm just going to stick my fingers in my ears and go la la la la and hope for the one good thing that might possibly maybe come out of this -- S&H the series on DVD.

Don't spoil my dream!

That's just what I was going to say. If DVDs come out of this, then it was worth it.

It worked with Charlie's Angels, though apparently they're not going to release more than the first season of that. The boy is distraught.

Sounds amusing if nothing else. And I like Owen Wilson.

You know, and I say this as someone who really doesn't even have an emotional connection to the shows that keep getting this treatment, why do they bother calling the movie Starsky and Hutch if it's going to be so radically different? Really? What's the point in calling what was otherwise an inoffensive if dumb action-conedy I Spy when it had pretty much no connection to the show? Do they actually think the titles of these old shows are some kind of box office draw? Because, um, really? Not.

Oh my god, is Snoop Dogg playing Huggy Bear? The worst part was the fact that it sounded so freakin' awful to me, and yet the audience was roaring with laughter, and the reviewer rec'd it enthusiastically. Gak.

GAH!

I posted a line by line feedback on the article on my LiveJournal. I'm just SO upset over this freaking movie that I can't control myself. What the FREAK is wrong with these people? They're NOT SH, they'll never BE SH, so stop using their names! Starsky was never uptight, Hutch was never crooked, and Huggy never wore a coat of many colors, so this has no basis in the show whatsoever. And the only draw (THE ONLY DRAW) is seeing Paul and David in their glory the first five minutes of the movie. All the rest is a bad, bad dream.

My God, what were they thinking? Oh, wait, that's it. They weren't thinking.

I think I'm going to take a note from Killa's book and stick my fingers in my ears and pretend it isn't happening. Maybe it won't. *sigh*
