A:Suzanne and I talked about that as well. There are certain things that are very clear in the book. Rue is African-American. Thresh is African-American. Suzanne had no issues with Jen playing the role. And she thought there was a tremendous amount of flexibility. It wasn’t doctrine to her. Jen will have dark hair in the role, but that’s something movies can easily achieve. [Laughs] I promise all the avid fans of The Hunger Games that we can easily deal with Jennifer’s hair color.

The Akira thing, I already got the heads up about that, so I'm not totally freaking. I just really don't think I'll be watching that steaming pile of crap. I mean, I got all thrown when I watched Akira after it was re-voiced, so I don't think I would be able to handle the LA with a bunch of white 30-somethings playing at teens running rough-shod over Neo-Manhattan. No thnx.

On the whitewashing level, I'm offended.

On every other level, I'm laughing my ass off. Making a live action version in the first place is ludicrous. Casting those actors would make it even worse (why yes, Takeda should absolutely be in his 30s!). It's going to be beyond bad. It's going to be beyond terrible. It's going to be the next Mission to Mars.

It's like a while back when they said they were going to make a "more gritty and realistic" version of The Crow. I can't not laugh.

I've heard about this already so I'm not completely OMG WAT about it (it also probably helps that I've never seen Akira *fails*).

Also, I was pretty sure I heard that Zefron was being cast for one of them? While it wouldn't make the situation any better (though a part of me kind of want him cast as Light/Kira when the inevitable American Death Note liveaction is produced. IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE HIM PLAY A PSYCHO OKAY.), he would at least be kind of age-appropriate assuming the two leads are in their teens/early 20s.

I'm not even touching the rest of those prospects (though some of them look like they could at least act it convincingly).
