So - that review of "Game of Thrones"

I see that a bunch of folks on my flist have been venting their aggro about this review of Game of Thrones on their ljs -- but, as of 9pm Central time, no one at all has commented on the review at the NYTimes site. There are zero reviews of the review.

You can review the review here. I'm pretty sure that comments will be seen by the writer, who's probably desperately waiting for *someone* to say something about her review.

I've seen two different and well thought out reviews of that particular piece, but neither of them are in comments on the original. here and here.

I think they probably are screening it, and I can't imagine they don't have link tracking of some kind so that the author can track where her article gets mentioned...

The default at the NY Times is screen comments, and sometimes the screener takes their own sweet time getting around to it.

I said on someone else's post that I wished they allowed comments on that story -- there was no way to leave a comment that I could see, or I would've. Maybe you have to pay for the privilege?

That's very strange -- the commenting form is there, and there's nothing to indicate that you'd need to pay in order to comment.

When I went over there to read it earlier today, there was no comment form, nothing I could click that would open a comment form, and no mention of comments on the review at all. Just... nothing. I thought it was weird, but figured maybe some sites had just done away with them.

There's a link to "review this review" or "reader comments" or something, which is how I found the URL to the comments page.

Yeah, that's the norm, and I would've, but there was just no option to do that anywhere on the page.

Someone else said that they were logged in and everything and they *still* couldn't see the comment box.

Okay, so it's not just me. That's VERY weird! I wonder if the writer has control over the comments, and can delete or turn them off?

just posted a comment and it still says there are no comments. also my page said, "done but with errors on page" so perhaps it's a technical problem?

I just find it hilarious that people are so willing to call this piece sexist, but vociferously defend the "WATCH IT, THERE ARE BOOBS" reviews. Granted, this was published in a far more prestigious place, but it rankles me.

And by hilarious I mean if I don't laugh I'll cry.

I saw this review this morning and was too busy all day to post on LJ about it. Glad to see others did.

Not only are there no comments but I tried to rate it and even though I'm a subscriber, was unable to do so.

I'm guessing they've been bombarded with comments and don't want to post them.
