Continuing Allegations of Stolen Video Footage. If anybody would like to report video stolen from them, please email me at webmaster@fanflix.com with which videos were stolen from and which videos they were put into, along with a link to your video, and the name of the flicker who swindled your work. I do not allow plaigarism on this site, as I severely fear a lawsuit.
WRITE TO HIM. Send him links to vids. Show him proof.
The dumbest entitlement I ever heard? In a thread on one of ashinae's earlier posts on this subject, the offending vidder said, basically, that she can't make vids with her own footage, because she has no way of getting the footage into her computer. If she can't find the episode or movie or whatever online, then the only way to make the vid is to take the clip she needs from another online vid.
In other words, since she isn't set up to vid without stealing, she steals.
Instead of, you know, NOT FUCKING VIDDING. She's entitled to vid, isn't she?
Isn't she?
Holy. Flying. Fuck.

As to Desiree's messages and comments over in those threads? Her story changes. I think she's just bullshitting, but her "friend" Janine either supplied Desiree with some of the stolen clips, or Desiree let Janine use the vids which Desiree claims as her own as source to butcher to make Janine's vids. Some "friend", eh? And Janine is one of the more vocal whiners about the "spam" over on the minicomments board on Risen.

Date: 2003-11-07 05:33 pm (UTC)This makes my brain hurt. As in, why would plagiarism make him more vulnerable to lawsuit than just hosting vids? Not that I want to dissuade him from a harsh stance against plagiarists, but WTF?
On a related note, anyone who wants to use this icon is welcome to share it.
Writing to Fanflix
Date: 2003-11-07 06:58 pm (UTC)I wrote to the webmaster at Fanflix this morning. I'm not a vidder, but wrote as a fan of vids who is concerned that talented people whose vids I adore will remove them from the net to avoid being stolen if this continues (and also I feel very strongly that stealing and lying are just plain WRONG.
I also pointed out that if he wants his site to have any respect at all from serious and talented vidders he needs to publicly resolve this and soon. (I included pointers to the URLs that outline the stolen clips and vids).
