Okay, so, my neighbor's cat needed to get to the vet. I lent her my car. This morning, upon getting into my car, I discovered that the brand-new battery (as in, last week when the car was in the shop, they replaced the battery and the radiator) was dead. Then I discovered the passenger-side door was not fastened, and so that meant the overhead light in the car was on all night, and that meant... dead battery.

Well, frustrating, but you know, I have AAA, so I call them, and they're on their way out to give my car a jump, and I'll go on my merry way to work.

But...

When I'd taken my car into the shop, there were three things wrong. Radiator, battery, and the cable that pops the hood was busted. They had to order the cable - told me as soon as they got it, come in, they'll replace it. No problem - I rarely have to go under the hood except to change the oil (which they did last week) or put in the wiper fluid (which they did last week). So, all is fine.

Except? Jumping the battery... requires access to the battery.

ARGH! ARGH! ARGH! ARGH! I *have* to go to work! I can't work from home today! I'm SO FUCKING FUCKED!!!

The hood can still be opened somehow, or else the garage would never have been able to replace your battery last week. It may be more difficult, but there must be a way. Does Triple-A know this way?

Well, fuck.

Yahtzee's right, though, there has to be another way for them to pop the hood. Not only because they would have to have been able to replace the battery--but because they would have to be able to replace the cable which lets you pop the hood. *g*

Good luck!
