Involved gun rape. (And was actually brilliant.) Although one could, in fact, make a case that "Cain/Gina, NC-17" is pretty much all the warning anyone who knows the characters would ever need.

(Yes, I can provide a link. As I've said, brilliant. But disturbing as fuck.)

I think warnings are a nice courtesy. I think sometimes it's good to know what you're getting into (in cases where the pairing, rating, and summary don't make that clear enough). But they are not a moral obligation.

Here's my thing. Movies don't start with a screen that says "someone gets gun-raped in this movie." Books don't have prefaces that say "someone gets gun-raped in this book." I just don't see how this is any different. Pays your money, takes your chances, etc.

Not knowing something is coming, much more often than not, makes that something more exciting. If gun rape freaks you out, then yes, in that instance it sucks. But everyone has a different "sucks" meter, and we can't warn for everything.
