I just got a raise. I mean, a good, serious raise.

This baffles me to no end. The company was told there would be no raises. And, for the most part, there *were* no raises. Except for me, and M, and J, and five producers.

I mean, seriously. The company has... close to 200 employees, and eight of us got raises.

And PBS is losing money. I mean, hemorrhaging money. We've cut close to a third of our employees in Chicago alone in the two-and-a-half years I've been here. After the last round of lay-offs (where I feared I might be next, as I spoke out rather angrily at a companywide meeting about them), they swore we'd have no more lay-offs, and we just did last week - two major VPs were let go for monetary reasons.

I mean... buh?

Sorry there are no raises there. Of course, there were no raises here, either, for the most part.

Heh. Now you know how I felt, back in April, when I was all "Whu....?"

You are a highly valuable employee and (gasp) someone who controls money knows it! Go you!

Oh...sorry for the whole money-hemorrhaging thing, though. And good for you for speaking up about the lay-offs. Maybe they're trying to buy your silence while keeping your mad web skillz and web expert wrangling expertise. (In which case they seriously haven't met you — like ever — if they think that would work.)

LOL! No, I don't think they're trying to shut me up - I'm just baffled. Bewildered. All those good "b" words.

Ohmygod! DangerMouse! Sometimes I feel like I dreamed that entire cartoon up.

And congrats. :) Don't question it. The whys and wherefores of business practices are dark and mysterious.

Oh man, Danger Mouse got me through a lot of rough times. I have several episodes on DVD.

"Carpet, rug - rug, wool - wool, sheep - sheep, wolf - wolf, pack - pack, case - case, trunk - trunk, elephant! *And it's worked before!*"
