Uh... woo?
Jul. 2nd, 2003 04:14 pmI just got a raise. I mean, a good, serious raise.
This baffles me to no end. The company was told there would be no raises. And, for the most part, there *were* no raises. Except for me, and M, and J, and five producers.
I mean, seriously. The company has... close to 200 employees, and eight of us got raises.
And PBS is losing money. I mean, hemorrhaging money. We've cut close to a third of our employees in Chicago alone in the two-and-a-half years I've been here. After the last round of lay-offs (where I feared I might be next, as I spoke out rather angrily at a companywide meeting about them), they swore we'd have no more lay-offs, and we just did last week - two major VPs were let go for monetary reasons.
I mean... buh?
