[livejournal.com profile] doctoreon braved the Free Republic boards today, and found this choice exchange:
"i told my husband when he went to see her in hawaii that it would happen the night before election."

"So Barry goes and see’s granny. Granny dies day before election. She is probably one know who really knows where he was born. Well as the church lady used to say. 'isn’t that special'”

"cyanide?"

"I think all of us are thinking the same thing. A bit too convenient (emphasis tzikeh's)."

"You know, dehydration takes from a week to two weeks. Hopefully, that wasn’t initiated when he dropped by. He’s in the party of death, that’s all I’m saying."

"I think she was just being kept alive on life support until now, start of the next news cycle. Just took a phone call to pull the plug."

"In other words, Obama has to get back to Hawaii. Something has come up on the certificate."
There are no words. Well, there are lots of words. But ultimately none of them come close to the magnitude necessary.

CONVENIENT?!

Yeah, I'm starting to think that emoticons and anime eyes are the only way to go in response to this. We have about 200,000 non-argot words in the English language; none work for a response to this.

This is the great failing of the Internet, the inability to get across my actual facial expression right now.

It doesn't help that I'm trying to give McCain equal time and so listening to his speech in NM and it's making me frustrated and furious. Apparently "The Mac Is Back." I just. I feel like this icon has become my protective ward.

I cannot imagine what Obama's inner life is like tonight, or will be like tomorrow. "Horrible" doesn't cover how I feel.

I really hope he doesn't have to hear any of this type of talk. It's sickening.

("Johnny B Goode" is McCain's campaign song? I am learning all sorts of things tonight. Sigh.)

Yeah, I saw a reference to that on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes (the quote was of a come-back).

I don't know what is wrong with these people. I mean, I've seen some trash talked about Palin, but NOTHING comparable to this. Sick fucks.

I've seen some trash talked about Palin

The thing is, in order to trash-talk Palin, all you have to do is point out the truth. And no, I'm not making a joke. This is a false equivalent (I'm not saying you're saying they're equal; I know you're not. I've just seen the "there's negativity from both sides" one too many time from people trying to be "fair and balanced".)

I know. It's like when they say, "Obama has more negative ads out there than McCain does." Well, seriously, Obama's "negative" ads are about McCain's policies and record, NOT: "OMG! John McCain lived in a COMMUNIST country for FIVE YEARS! He ate free communist food and accepted free communist medical care! He was totally converted to communism and will destroy freedom in America!!!!!!" (wish I could take credit for that spin of McCain's POW experience, but I'm paraphrasing John Cleese).

I doubt he's proud of this segment (and by segment, I mean part of a worm) of his demographic. He's an asshole, but he's not quite THAT kind of asshole.

That's just hideous.

*sigh* Okay. So there's a tiny, tiny part of me that can maybe sort of understand where they're coming from? It's like when I was in high school, and the Iran-Contra scandal was going down, and I was following it really closely and all adolescently passionate in my critique of Ronald Reagan and his policies on Central America, and then William Casey got a brain tumor. And I was like, "Brain tumor?? Yeah, that's convenient!" So...I was 16? And what's their excuse?? Yeah. *SIGH*

These people are nauseating. But what's even more interesting is that they are the ones who come up with these horrible ideas; kind of give you a insight into the garbage that they call a mind.

This election campaign has been a process of finding out all those scary, sick fucks you think you're probably imagining really exist. And they all have a goddamned internet connection, or are being interviewed on Fox News. Or are, you know, running for VP.

(Sorry about the rambling paragraph. I don't have time to break it up into shorter ones right now and I really wanted to tell the story.)

About the certificate mentioned above: a man came up to the reference desk last week, talked elections a little. Then he said that Obama is Kenyan. Both of us said, no, that's his father. So is he, he said. No, he's not, we repeated, that was his father, he himself was born in Hawaii. So is he, he insisted, nobody's ever found the birth certificate. I said, but he has a passport, you can't have a passport without a birth certificate. [The look on his face as this bit of data started his worldview a-crumbling was priceless.] He has a passport? he said. Yeah, I said, he can't travel around without one. [We got distracted at that point and couldn't continue the conversation.]
