The West Wing fifth season premiere is tomorrow night.

:jitter jitter:

Will it suck? What if it sucks! Oh, God, it's going to SUCK, isn't it.

Maybe it won't suck...

Shutupshutupshutupshutup I don't want to raise my expectations --

It might not suck...

AAAAAAAAAAAAA! It MIGHT NOT SUCK! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

:jitter jitter:

Clearly, for the next two days, I'm going to be a) twelve and b) nuts. Yeah, looking forward to it. And here I was going to write up this nice essay on either my second viewing of Lost in Translation or an in-depth look at the meaning of the opening title sequence to Carnivale. Wow, so not happening.

Just read an article that quoted Martin Sheen as saying it's one of the strongest episodes they've ever done, and that viewers should watch it with lots of kleenex.

I have no idea what that actually means, though. *g*

I am adding West Wing to my Tivo today. I heard that they have added some honest to God conservative writers to the show so it will be possible for me to watch it without wanting to throw something at the television every time a conservative character opens his mouth and says, "Well, why can't we just shoot old people."

Please, feel free to go on and on about the opening title sequence in Carnivale. I think it's visually stunning, and it's just one of several Carnivale issues that have occupied my mind this week.

West Wing? Ehh. :)

Hey, it might not suck. I mean, good actors. Yeah. As I continue to be repulsively perky, I will believe the best until faced with the horrible worst. La la la!

(The Regular Guy reviewed Lost in Translation this morning on WXRT; there was one line that had me giggling madly on the El.)

This is exactly what I go through, only with books.

Fans are fans, whatever their fandom. :)

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

This is exactly what I go through, only with books.

Yeah, well - think of it this way. You've been reading an ongoing series of novels and and you adore it everything about it. You're four books in. The author is suddenly replaced by this guy who writes a really popular series of books you hate. Oh, and he's gonna change the tone of the books to fit the current socio-political climate, and the witty dialog you loved that the original author was so good at is gone, but the publishing house assures you that everything will be just great.

Book five comes out tomorrow.

Wow. I thought they had just added new people. Who did they take out?

The creator, Aaron Sorkin, who wrote all but 2 of the past 88 episodes, left the series after last season's finale. NBC pushed him out because the budget ran over when he couldn't deliver scripts on time.

Well, that's a shame.

I must say that I have tried to watch West Wing several times and was sucked into the story line and the wonderful characters only to be thrown completely out of it by the stick figure conservatives. This would tick me off in the same way that a really good movie with a crappy ending would tick me off.

I sincerely hope, though, that they do not destroy everything about the show that works in order to fix the one thing that doesn't.

I will be interested to know what you think of the first ep.

Same thing with Stephen King, who doesn't even have the excuse of new writers.

Ack! What are you doing in my head? Ive been feeling the exact same way about the premiere.
Regardless, I'll be there with my tape on.

Oh. My. God. I haven't had a chance to watch the show yet, but I just watched the opening credits because of your mention here. I am in love. I could watch those credits in a loop for *hours*.
