As Massachusetts rules that gay *marriage*, and not anything short of that, is the only constitutional option, Ohio votes to ban same-sex unions and eliminate any chance for partner health benefits et al.

Here we go. Yanks and Rebs, and now ... what will we even call these sides?

Well, yeah - I mean, the only things I can come up with are basically "intelligent people" and "Bible-thumping loons" - like that. They don't really lend themselves to handy nicknames.

As much as I love the ring "Fuckfaces" has, we need something much more intelligent, so not only will it be appropriate, but they won't get it, being dolts themselves. Something meaningful and yet splendid. Perhaps "Mr. Poopypants"? No. Perhaps something more current. "Stifflers"?

Depends who wins in November 2004, I suppose. Ultimately, though, I think the same-sex marriage side has to win out: most people don't even disagree with the position that same-sex couples should get to marry legally.

sides? in my world, it's pretty simple: them what thinks I'm a person, and them what thinks I'm something else.

I have yet to determine what that else might be; then again, I haven't put a whole lot of effort into it either.
